Island Backpacking & Camping Trip Dates:
February 18–22, 2026 We are looking forward to our upcoming Cumberland Island Backpacking Trip. Please review the Cumberland Island Trip Information document carefully. It contains important information related to the outing, including packing guidance and meal planning. Scouts attending this outing should bring their fully packed backpacks to our next troop meeting on Monday, February 9, for a pack inspection. island. Scouts will spend the first night at Crooked River State Park,
just 15 minutes north of St. Marys, GA. Where we will board the ferry
for Cumberland Island the following day. Once arrived on the Island we
will backpack 3.5 miles to our campsite where we will spend the next 3
nights. On this trip Scouts can select from 3 different merit badges to
work on. (Fish & Wildlife Management, Nature, Environmental Science).
Scouts will also have ample opportunities to learn, practice and complete
rank and other merit badge requirements, while exploring the natural beauty,
rich history and diverse wildlife of Cumberland Island.
